In addition, it recommends incorporating didactic concepts that address the relationship between nutrition and oral health.

Research on the relationship between oral health and nutrition awareness is sparse. While many studies have investigated the relationship between nutrition and oral health, they mostly focus on the level of awareness and practices of oral health. For example, a study conducted in Saudi Arabia examined the relationship between the level of awareness and knowledge of periodontal diseases among adolescents. Despite the lack of direct link, this study demonstrates that it is important to include oral health awareness in public education programs.

Proper oral care requires that adults consume a diverse diet. Children should eat plenty of fruits and vegetables. If they don’t, they will be missing out on important nutrients needed for proper growth and development. Proper nutrition and oral health must start early in life to maintain a good nutritional status in adulthood. For instance, a diet rich in fruits and vegetables can reduce the risk of oral cancer.
